A fantastic region that offers so much to see and do. High mountain tops, vast mountain vistas, ancient wood land, waterfalls, the chance to look for whales, dolphins and seals, birds of prey, ospreys, culture, history and entertainment.
This tour is to experience a vast rugged arctic–like country which is unlike any other area of Scotland.
We will based on the edge of a mountain range called the Cairngorms. This is a beautiful and unique wild land area of Scotland. The Cairngorm mountain plateau is the largest slice of high country in the United Kingdom, with over 500 square kilometres (200 square miles) of land over 610 metres (2000ft) and consists of four of Scotland’s highest mountains. It is a vast empty country and offers a massive primeval landscape.
The mountain range was formed more than 40 million years ago and is part of the Cairngorm national park. The area provides a distinctive alpine semi- tundra moorland habitat home to many rare plants birds and mammals. Birds exclusive to the mountain plateau include Ptarmigan, Dotterel, Snow Bunting, Golden Eagle, Ring Ouzel, Red Grouse, Snowy Owl, Twite, Purple Sandpiper and Lapland Bunting.
The national park also tenures ancient woodland one of the last major ones of its kind in the United Kingdom which is known as the Caledonian Forest. The forest have Capercaille, Black Grouse, Scottish Crossbill, Parrot Crossbill and Crested Tit. It is also home to Red and Roe Deer, Mountain Hare, Pine Martin, Red Squirrel, Wild Cat and Otter.

2 cruises and a castle visit
Day 1
Meeting in Edinburgh Then travelling north to Aviemore via Blair Atholl. A short walk in Rothiemurcus around one of its beautiful lochs. Then on to our accommodation.
Day 2
A day walking up onto the vast Cairngorm Mountain Plateau.
Day 3
A short walk through the Rothiemurcus Forest up to a hill top viewpoint of the northern Cairngorm Mountains.
Day 4
A cruise on the Moray Firth Estuary. An afternoon visit to a castle. A visit to a beautiful waterfall.
Day 5
A day walking through the Rothiemurcus Forest up to and through a mountain pass.
Day 6
A day on the south side of the Cairngorms A shorter walk ascending a peak that gives one of the best viewpoints of the Cairngorm Mountains. Then a visit to the towns of Braemar and Ballater.
Day 7
Travel day back to Edinburgh. Stopping to visit a beautiful waterfall. Then continuing south stopping along the way. An evening cruise on the Firth of Forth with live musical entertainment and supper. Finally a lift to your chosen destination in Edinburgh.
