Important information
Please read the following carefully.
Booking your Tour
You can book at any time once tours are advertised online and there is availability. Your place is secured once we receive your deposit. When we receive your deposit we will send you a confirmation invoice which confirms your booking. The contract between us comes into existence at that time. We undertake to provide you with the touring holiday we describe in our brochure and you undertake to pay for the tour.
1.0 Payments
Payments can be made by completing the online secure booking form. We use the Stripe payment platform. We accept debit and credit cards (Visa / Master card). Bank transfers BACS payment transfers can also be made.
All walking holidays are subject to a non refundable 10% deposit at time of booking.
The remaining balance is due at the latest 42 days prior to the start of your holiday.
2.0 Cancellations
Should you wish to cancel your holiday the following schedule of payment for your holiday applies:
- Cancellation dates and charges that will apply to tour total holiday cost
- Cancellation of your holiday within 41 days and 29 days of holiday start date 20%
- Cancellation of your holiday within 28 days and 15 days of holiday start date 40%
- Cancellation of your holiday within 14 and 8 days of holiday start date 70%
- Cancellation of your holiday within 7 or less days of your holiday 80%
In the event that Mountain Journey Scotland should have to cancel the scheduled holiday full reimbursement will be made or we will offer you an agreeable alternative.
3.0 Liability
Whilst Mountain Journey Scotland has public liability insurance cover we are not responsible for accidents, injury, loss, damage or additional costs from circumstances beyond our control.
We therefore strongly advise that you take out comprehensive holiday insurance cover for this type of holiday. This ensures that you are covered against personal accident, illness and loss or damaged personal possessions.
4.0 Safety
Walking in wild, remote and mountainous areas is a potentially dangerous activity which could result in injury or death. Participants therefore should accept that there is an element of risk and you are responsible for your own actions. Mountain Journey Scotland ensures that we follow all possible health and safety guidelines for leading groups of people into these regions. Your guide is a fully qualified mountain leader. In the interest of safety for yourself and all other members of the group you agree to follow your guides decision and advice. If you do not you absolve yourself from their responsibility.
All participants must be 18 years of age and over. Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
5.0 Health
Mountain Journey Scotland or your guide must be notified in advance of any client is suffering from any medical condition or taking medication which is likely to interfere with their mobility or ability to fully participate in the holiday.
6.0 Issues
In the event of any issues arising in relation to your trip please let us know as soon as they arise. Mountain Journey Scotland and your guide will do their best to resolve this to ensure you enjoy your holiday.
7.o Personal Data and Privacy Policy (GDPR 2018)
We take the protection of your private data seriously and want you to feel secure when visiting our website. The protection of your privacy in the processing of your data is taken into account in our business processes . Our website may contain links to websites of other service providers to which this privacy does not extend.
Definitions within the agreement
- “Meeting Point” means the place specified by us in the Tour Pack as the place we will meet and start your tour
- “Start Date” means the date on which we start your tour
- “Tour” means a holiday organised by Mountain Journey Scotland
- “Tour Pack” means whatever documents we send to you in hard copy (paper) or soft copy (electronic) to provide information about your tour
What is included and not included in your tour
The following is included:
- Travel from the meeting point and throughout the tour to your return to the departure point (as stated in the itinerary/tour agreement)
- Accommodation (as stated in itinerary/tour agreement)
- Food (breakfast and packed lunch)
- Services of a guide throughout the full tour
- Miscellaneous activities / entertainments (as stated in itinerary/tour agreement)
The following is not included:
- Return flights and or any other travel arrangements to the tour “meeting” and departure points
- All other costs incurred before you board transport at the tour “meeting point” and after you return to the tour departure point.
- Travel insurance or any other insurance personal to yourself
- Passport and visa costs
- Food and drink over and above what we include in the tour
- Gratuities you choose to give in addition we give on your behalf where we consider appropriate
